Flex/Actionscript is a Scripting language for Flash. Unless you want to develop flash websites or flash plugins, it will be of no worth.

It cannot be compared to PHP. If that is your choice, then my suggestion is to go with PHP.

Difficult to answer. It really depends on you as a person. Any programming language can be difficult or easy to learn depends on your background and skill level.

Java syntax is very similar to C++ and C#. But in my opinion not as difficult as C++.
However, It is a little more complicated than Visual Basic. But the again this is all up to personal preference.

My recommendation is to learn C# or PHP.

I've installed Joomla on and XP Pro MAchine, with IIS 5.1, PHP 5.2 (ISAPI) and MySQL 5.1, i got some troubles with PHP.ini, but after several tries it worked fine, at least for the phpinfo point of view, the Joomla install went just fine, and the final "status" info also showed it was fine. From the installation point of view (since it was my first Joomla install EVER), with a few guides (PHP via ISAPI, Joomla on IIS) and a few tweaks it worked... now im going live, and im searching if FastCGI in IIS 6 (Win2003 server) is faster/more reliable than ISAPI, but no "direct" answer so far...

Actually having to delete the installation folder is part of a normal Joomla! install. It is required for security reasons. There is a good installation manual available, though safe to say that it won't cover all your adventures since IIS isn't officially supported.

Yeah, my first thought was also if the reporter were seeing the same. That did it for me. I'm too technical minded and seen/read to many sci-fi to be fooled. So why try and fool people with a gimmick like that?

It's a simple compositing trick. They didn't have to lie about it, though.

What they did could be done easily at home or anywhere else with greenscreening, providing the camera was static. What they did is film the correspondent from enough angles to match angle changes of the cameras in the studio. It's somewhat of a technical achievement to do it live, though, but still nothing as special as they made it out to be.

At my first viewing I was, like many others i'm sure, very intrigued. I then of course asked myself if it was real and if so, how was it done? I then proceeded (as always) to search the internet for information and concluded that it was fake... and that was the end of it.

I don't like the idea that CNN would broadcast a phoney hologram and call it an actual "hologram". I don't like it at all.
